About the course

The BSc in Agriculture is designed to obtain the knowledge necessary for being able to act successfully at different areas of agriculture with special regard to plant production, animal breeding and environmental aspects related to agriculture. The training starts with high emphasis on basic sciences, especially on chemistry, plant and animal physiology, physics and mathematics. The technical aspects of agriculture are important parts of the curriculum which includes the fundamentals of precision agriculture as well. From the 3rd semester animal breeding and crop production will be the leading areas of the training including all the related sciences that are necessary for acting as a qualified agronomist.

We put a special emphasis on environmental aspects and on the application of environmentally sound technologies which results not only in less environmental load, but also in a more economical way of production.

Throughout your stay at Széchenyi István University, which is the largest university in West-Hungary, with 13 000 students, as a student of Agronomy, you will have a personal academic tutor to guide you through your studies and to meet your individual goals and interests.

The course includes a full semester of practical training covering the most important target areas.

Learning and assessment

Learning is through lectures, tutorials, seminar groups, practical sessions, research projects and self-directed study. Assessment is via oral and written examinations and a diploma work.
